Seventy-five years ago, a manager named Ted Drake walked into Stamford Bridge, tore up Chelsea’s old identity, and gave them two things they’ve never let go of: the nickname the Blues, and the rampant lion. This shirt is built entirely around him.
The lion takes centre stage. For the first time in Chelsea’s modern history, the home shirt drops the standard modern badge and wears a yellow rampant lion crest instead — the symbol Drake introduced, rendered in gold on royal blue. Look closer and the whole fabric carries a tonal jacquard pattern: the full Chelsea crest, woven and repeated across the shirt, with the lion and the club wording hidden in the weave.
A fold-over polo collar and single-button placket give it a classic, throwback neckline. Gold accents catch the Swoosh, the shoulder seams, the side panels. Even the socks carry the laurel wreath motif that circles the crest.
After years of loud, busy kits, this one goes the other way — clean, deliberate, built on 75 years of history. Less, done properly.
